Kathy Griffin slammed for Scott Brown remarks - USATODAY.com

Kathy Griffin slammed for Scott Brown remarks - USATODAY.com: "- Sent using Google Toolbar"

When a humorist has to stoop down to slamming to get attention, what does it tell you? To me it tells that this humorist has a lack of imagination and seeks to suceed by shock rather than talent. She did it before with with Scientology, she did it again with Senator Scott brown, calling her two daughter prostitutes.

I don't find it funny.

Shallonymous Caliber Politician is no Premier Material

I still have no more time nowadays than just check the top 3 Scientology news in Google. No sign of Shallownymous or anything the like, except the recent news where the opposition leader in Australia has seriously put his career in jeopardy by forwarding typical critical/shallownymous unverified claims of Scientology corruption that in fact turned out to be fakes (most probably created by Shallownymous themselves as this is the kind of things they like to indulge into):

"This is a person who purports to be the alternative Premier, somebody who must be sensible and solid in his governing of a state, who has shown an appalling lack of judgement."

Indeed, like Hilary's vote for the Iraq war, such a Shallownymous lack of judgement, IMHO, rules him out for any role as a Premier.

OSAOSAOSA

Truth Seeker is an excellent "critic" - alt.religion.scientology | Google Groups
"[...] New guy shows up to ask an innocent question. Everyone jumps on the poor sap: "We all see through your evil schemes, undercover OSA op!!!"

I'm reminded of some of the more fanatical Anonymous videos where innocent bystanders are accused of being undercover Scientologists. That takes some hardcore paranoia to video yourself hassling ordinary people only because they happen to be within a few blocks radius of a Scientology church.

A guy completely unrelated to any of it happens to walk by an Anonymous protest. What do the "moral" protesters do? They call the poor guy insulting names because they just ~know~ he is a secret OSA op trying to sneak a peak under their masks."

Shallonymous' Abuse of the Law

I sometimes disagree with "Tom Newton" but he is really good at catching up Shallonymous abuses.

The video hosted on this page (like the one on the other Newton page I blogged about today) is another video about which Shallonymous boasts about, when in fact it again demonstrates that what they do has little to nothing to do with "peaceful protests", and it even features a non-Scientologist passer-by who tries to make them understand that their masked farce is not welcome. The fact that he may have been a bit drunk indeed does not remove the validity of his opinion, only that it makes him bold enough to tell it to the masked face of Shallonymous.

I have to agree with Tom that the close up filming, provoking, and mocking on Youtube of the reaction of people they provoked is just harassment and stalking - and it's not funny. It may be "legal" (at least in the US it seems, not in Europe), but it really is just an abuse of whatever rationale is behind that legality.

"ANONYMOUS" IS A GANG OF CYBER-BULLIES AND ANTI-RELIGION EXTREMISTS: ANONYMOUS ATTACKS AFRICAN AMERICAN:
"'How would I react if I were outnumbered five to one by a group of strangers in creepy plastic masks, who started following me and videotaping my every move?'"

Clearwater Protest

"ANONYMOUS" IS A GANG OF CYBER-BULLIES AND ANTI-RELIGION EXTREMISTS: ANONYMOUS PHOTOGRAPHING LICENSE PLATES OF SCIENTOLOGIST OWNED VEHICLES:
"'We protested from 3 pm until 6 pm... scarring scilons back into their turtle shells...We got a couple honks and a lot of 'Fuck you' and 'You guys are the KKK!' from people driving by...I took pictures of...their license plates for your enjoyment.'"
One of Shallonymous' initial aims was to help "scilons escape the cult". By the quote above, they are not very successful at it and seem content of just "scarring scilons back into their turtle shells". Was that ever their noble initial purpose? These protests have now degenarated in just stalking and annoying the "clams". It serves no constructive purpose whatsoever anymore.

Note that this happened during the Feb. 7 Clearwater monthly protest, where five (read: 5!) anons protested, whereas last year in Feb. they had 150, and last Mar. 300! Now they have 5! Add this to the stats I reported last Feb. 8 and behold the sublime decadence of a movement that started well but could not keep up because they were unable to digg futher than a few millimeters down the real issues. That's why I now call them Shallonymous.

Another trend I observed lately is that because of the low numbers they are now too ashamed to call what they do "monthly protests" anymore, and pretend these are just "Flash raids", even though it happens on the date of the monthly protests!

Compiling Personal Information

More example of the kind of information Anonymous members are compiling about the individually targeted Scientologists (click the link to see the pics):

"ANONYMOUS" IS A GANG OF CYBER-BULLIES AND ANTI-RELIGION EXTREMISTS: ANONYMOUS SINGLING OUT INDIVIDUAL SCIENTOLOGISTS:
"They allege that they are posting the personal data of individual Scientologists in order to "protect themselves from Fair Game and Stalking". According to their own twisted logic, since Scientologists supposedly stalk people (according to Anonymous' mischaracterizations and stereotypes), it's totally justified to stalk them first.

What scares me is that the more paranoid Anonymous members also believe that Scientologists KILL people. Should we then expect Anonymous to start KILLING people? "

No Privacy for Scientologists

Church of Scientology London: LONDON'S MOST POWERFUL CULT

If you are a Scientologist, then it seems that your privacy right is lifted and that you would be fair game for a group ironically calling itself "Anonymous" to gather your photo and name on the page above.

Anonymous also displays its "Docs or STFU" myth in unwarranted and false assertions in comments such as: "Note: Jett Travolta would be alive today, if he had been 'drugged' (medicated)."

It also displays its tremendous power for researched (Docs or STFU) in its logo:
  • "Mind-control" - debunked
  • "Unlicensed therapy" - debunked
  • "Hypnosis (auditing)" - debunked
  • "Stalking" - that's what Anonymous does - witness... the page above among other things
  • "kidnap" - that's what deprogrammers used to do, following the same philosophy Anonymous does
  • "Attacks on psychology" - that would be psychiatry instead, and so what?
  • "Extortion and more" - presumably all the people posted on that page would be guilty by association of extortion and other crimes... including numerous children.
Once more, Anonymous just demonstrates it is nothing to be taken seriously, and that it exceeds in many ways the ugliness it accuses Scientology of.

Mary DeMoss

On January 30, 2009, Mark Bunker posted on his blog:
"I’m not posting a link to [Mary DeMoss] blog but it isn’t hidden. I’m sure by now most have found it. I would urge people to leave her be. "
I knew, reading this, that this was wishful thinking. It didn't take long before I saw a nasty attack on her using her blog, and worst even, her private life. Here it is: http://free-from-scientology.blogspot.com/2009/02/hey-mary-panton-aka-mary-demoss-im.html

This "formerly fooled", supposedly "out of the dark", is taking on her to admonish DeMoss on her private life, trying to link what DeMoss sincerely put out about her relationships, to Scientology. She even tries to use DeMoss son against her:
"Listen up, Mary Panton , lobbyist (aka Mary DeMoss). I'm Lobbying You.............. because that son of yours is no joke and someday he's going to read all about you on the internet and all that you've written on your blog and you need to be prepared to be held accountable to the little one you love, a tougher fish than big one that got away."
Is it just me and my deficient English or someone else also think that this type of behavior is abhorrent, from whichever side it comes?

Fair Game Abused

The Church of Scientology certainly did engage in harassment along their "Fair Game" policy. That it was canceled does not mean the spirit and rationale has changed much.

While this is true, however, I have observed Anonymous and critics engage in two myths about this:
  1. Virtually anything critical the CoS or Scientologists say about critics is automatically tagged as "Fair Game", even when it is a mere normal answer.
  2. Anonymous and critics tend to greatly exaggerate Scientologists' reaction in an attempt to tag it as fair game. I once have given an example of this, where a Scientologist engaged an anon in a relatively friendly manner and where her words were completely distorted to make it sounds like something absolutely sinister.
Quite on the contrary, I found that Scientologists in general have been remarkably cool in the face of sometimes abject harassment on the part of Anonymous, that actually illustrate the notion of Fair Game much better than what Scientologists did.

Put the shoe on the other foot and for a moment and imagine what you would say if Scientologists engaged in these types of behavior towards critics.

In this sense, I found the following thread rather in ARS interesting, and so far critics could not come up with a good answer: Demagoguery and the Anti-Scientology Movement - alt.religion.scientology | Google Groups

Depth of Inhumanity

Gold Base Raid, 24 Jan 09 - alt.religion.scientology | Google Groups: "We had several funny signs. 'GOLD BASE, HOME OF THE ELECTRIC SQUIRREL.'"

Barbz and her ilks find this a "funny sign". If I am not mistaken this refers to the incident in which the daughter of Moxon accidentally died electrocuted trying to save squirrels that got trapped in a vault.

That some people may find such a sign "funny" shows the depth of inhumanity their hatred have led them into.

Just imagine the outcry if this would had happened to the daughter of a critic and if Scientologists would be waving such a sign in front of his house or office. But because it is against the "evil cult" of Scientology, it's OK - and even "funny"!

Is Close-in Pictures of Passer-By Legal?

YouTube - Clearwater Anonymous Protest – January 17th – Bullbaiting Failtroll Angle 1

This video shows an incident where a passer-by objects to being photographed and filmed. He smashes the camera, not the people. Unfortunately, what happens before the incident is not shown.

I don't know whether the guy is a Scientologist or not. Jeff Jacobsen seems to think he is not.

But anyway, would you like if masked people would take your picture and film you a few inches away from your face as you are walking the street? They were probably hurling offensive statements as well, as they usually do.

I do not know the legality of taking pictures of people against their will, and much less publishing them on the Internet. I believe in Europe that would be illegal.

However, I really do think that there ought to be some ordinance restricting people at least from coming that close in taking pictures.

Independently from any Scientology issue, do you think it is not harassment doing so to passer-by in the street? It seems to me it is.

On the whole, Scientologists have been remarkably cool in face of such behavior. I don't know if this guy is a Scientologist or not, but I can perfectly understand why he would think that this is harassment and even illegal.

I know Scientology handlers have also been doing this towards protesters. I think it also is wrong and harassment, but then we are also in a different situation here. They are filming people who are in front of their own building and who are directly addressing them. Whereas it seems to me that this guy was just a passer-by, Scientologist or not.

Requiring the protesters to be on the other side of the sidewalk in such circumstances seems to be a reasonable request, and would avoid this kind of incidents. The line between peaceful protests and stalking is easily crossed, as we have seen before. Turning this line into a street seems to make sense.

Update Feb. 1: The same video is show on this other youtube channel. However, it claims that the Scientologist was "detained by the police". This simply is not true.

It also calls the Scientologist a "bull-baiting" Scientologist (like the initial channel above). In fact, it is just the reverse. The Scientologists (if he is a Scientologist in the first place) is only trying to defend himself from in-your-face cameras. The masked anons surrounding him are the one doing the bull-baiting. Ask yourself if you would like to be surrounded by a flock of masked anons waving signs insulting your religion and holding camera to your face to film you against your will while trying to provoke a reaction as you peacefully walk in the street.

I am sorry but this has nothing to do with "peaceful protests". To me is simply is stalking and religious hate.

YouTube - Anonymous member covered in pubes runs into scientology building

What would you say if a half-naked nut covered in pubes suddenly enters your house or your office and spread pubes everywhere?

Yet, this is what Anonymous calls "peaceful protest".

Next time I hope they prevent the guy from exiting and charge him with vandalism and invasion of private property.

Critics Already Jumping Like Vultures on Jett's Death

It is inevitable that debate would be open on Scientology influence in Travolta's decision throughout this tragedy, but can't critics at least wait a bit rather than jump in the middle of mourning comments?

At least some of them had the minimum decency to first offer their sympathy before launching in their tirade, but others just jumped in with heartless, insensitive, and cruel comments right in the middle of people offering their sympathy for this terrible tragedy.

Here is a couple of examples, among several others:

Where's Xenu when you need him?

Posted by: Maryanne | January 02, 2009 at 03:45 PM
My sympathy only goes so far for parents that belong to a religious cult that preached that brain disorders and mental health care is a hoax.
And of course Anonymous, who saw fit to post its "we do not forget" and other unsavory statements right at the top of the mourning comments.

Needless to say, normal human beings do not take such a display of sickening fanaticism and hatred lightly, and it's hardly going to improve the image of Anonymous and other so-called critic:

It's a sad day when any child dies, even sadder when people like commonsense spew their hatred and stupidity where it is not welcome. My condolences to Jett's' family and to commonsense's family, your parents must truly be proud of such a fine person.

Zman said at 5:05pm Jan 02, 2009
Where is the heart and compassion for the loss of a human being, a child at that, with an illlness at that. because of someones beliefs we have become loss in world of religions, forgeting that when someone passes, it tuly is a loss to their loved ones, and much needed compassion needs to be promoted. I am so sorry John for your loss of such a young soul. I remember when Jett was born and the proud pappa you were. God bless you and your family. Screw the insesitive indivuiduals, where only Karma will prevail in the end.

To use this death as a platform to attack anyone's beliefs or lifestyle is just sad.

Anonymous Threatens Scientologists and Their Family in Their Private Houses at Christmas

One of the three videos that were at the basis for Angry Gay Pope's ban on You Tube can now be seen on Vimeo. Entitled "Christmas with the Handlers", it consists of a movie made filming Scientologists' private houses, together with their addresses being posted on the same video, and their car plates being filmed.

Once more, I fail to see how this constitutes any form of "peaceful protests" and how it is going to do any good in improving Anonymous' image.

Back in July, Anonymous was already speaking of going to picket their "handlers'" company. In that particular case, it seemed to me the guy was no "handler" at all but just a Scientologist having a friendly talk with anons (compare this with what AGP calls "just conversation").

Even if this Scientologist and others were "handlers" indeed, it would still not justify this kind of outright stalking and invitation to violence that threatens individuals and their family right in the middle of what should be a peaceful familial gathering and celebration of peace on earth...

Stalking Scientologists - Precedents

I blogged today about Anonymous filming private residences of Scientologists while also posting their addresses.

Back in 1999, a similar incident happened in which Kady O'Malley posted photos of Helena Kobrin's home and that of other Scientologists. She also suggested her intend to produce maps to direct others to these homes, and provided a link to considerable personal information that has been posted about Kobrin around the same time.

O'Malley later pulled off the page from the web but never published the apology she supposedly made privately to Kobrin (having seen the extend Kady is willing to go (claiming I pulled off a page which I never even created) in a lame attempt to justify the arbitrary ban she and her buddies imposed on me on their pet "free speech" IRC channel, I have reasons to doubt her truthfulness).

No later than three days ago, I made a blog entry about Anonymous "peacefully picketing" a Christmas party attended by Scientologists and their children.

Monica Pignotti also commented how anons on ARS "were encouraging people to go to a Toyota dealership where a recently departed ex-Scientologist is working and videotape him, presumably as a way to pressure him to go public about his experience as a top-ranking SO member".

This type of behavior is exactly what brought Keith Henson in trouble with the law. Henson wasn't just indicted for "peacefully protesting" or for making a Cruise missile joke. For days on end he followed Scientologists from their work place to their home, wrote down their address which was then used by Arnie Lerma to send them unwanted mail, took their pictures, wrote down their plate numbers, followed them with signs accusing them of killing their own companions who died in a tragic accident...

I am sorry but these examples, together with the incident I just reported, are not just "peaceful protests" to me. This is one of the things that is being discussed at the Riverside County, where supervisors are talking of imposing a 300 feet perimeter from a person's residence in which protesters could not enter.

PS - Check also how critics reacted vehemently back in 1997 at the simple suggestion they maybe could observe a Christmas Truce. I am sure they view themselves as "dedicated in their human right activism". To more cool-minded onlookers, however, they would appear instead as every bit as fanatical as the brainwashed cultists they supposedly are trying to help.

Anonymous Crashes CoS' Christmas Party

Anonymous made sure to be an uninvited guess at the CoS' Christmas party in Columbus, attended by Scientologists and their children. See how they brag about it here and here, with its usual cortege of approving and cheering anons and OGs.

I would say that, in addition to shrinking in numbers, Anonymous seems to have strayed very far away from its initial goal as well. When was the last time the CoS went to a Christmas party attended by critics and their children with signs branding them as criminals?

Angry Gay Pope in the News Again

I already pointed out the tasteless and harassing tactics of one of the Anonymous members going by the nick name of "Angry Gay Pope" (AGP). See here, here, and here.

Jeff Jacobsen seems to agree with me after another display of AGP's "talent".

Mark Bunker, on the other hand, in spite of making reservations about him, justifies his behavior using the "Gays and Scientology" myth.

I really like Mark Bunker as a person. I really do. But sometimes I wonder where on earth he misplaced his insight.

The fact that AGP is gay or not has nothing to do with his behavior. It has everything to do with the fact that he is a bully by nature. Pitdown Man is also gay, and yet I am sure he would never bully Scientologists for no better reason than the fact they are Scientologists.

Mark also writes "facts over harassment will win everytime". This is only partly true. Context is almost as important as facts. As an old saying goes, "Truth without love is cruelty".

Harassing Individual Scientologists

Another example of Anonymous "protest" of Scientology, just harassing individual Scientologists. The guy even boasts about the fact that the last time he "protested" Scientology by stalking a pretty gal for two hours, the police did not arrest him but simply sent him away.
